EICR report cost: what the price covers and what is extra
Updated
The EICR report cost you are quoted normally covers the visit, the testing of each circuit and the written report, and nothing else. Repairs the report asks for, extra fuse boards and urgent visits are priced on top.

What the price covers
The report is the written result of an inspection and test of the fixed electrical installation against the wiring regulations, BS 7671. The law for rented homes in England refers to that standard by name (the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020). A quoted price is for the inspection, the testing and the report document.
What firms charge on top
- Another fuse board
- First Certify charges £179 for a 1 bed with one board and £219 with two (its price list).
- Circuits over the allowance
- Ideal Electrical Solutions in Liverpool prices a small property at £99, a medium one at £140 and a large one at £15 a circuit (its EICR page).
- A same-day visit
- Faelectrical adds £50 to the standard price for same-day attendance (its London price list).
- Repairs the report asks for
- Quoted separately once the report shows what is needed. A rented home in England must have that work done within 28 days, or sooner if the report says so (GOV.UK guidance).

What to ask before you book
- What is the circuit allowance in the price, and the charge per extra circuit or board?
- Will you quote any repairs separately, in writing, before doing them?
- Will I receive the full report, not only a summary page?
Published figures are what each firm advertises on its own page, read through our fetch box in October 2026.
